If I'm gonna be completely truthful I certainly watch a lot more American Comedy shows than British, like American Dad, The Office, Parks and Recreations etc. But that doesn't mean I value American Humor any more than British Humor, In fact I think the concept of being able to define an entire Nation's Humor is absurd.

I'll give you a clue; read early American literature; it's real English (i.e. British English). British English, as you call it, supersedes the American dialect, and is far more widespread. And American English developed from English, within the past 150 years. It is certainly not closer to 'the original', if by 'original' you mean the earliest recordings of English.
